THE PAST MONTH OF OUR LIVES

Since it has been a while since we have posted with what has been going on at our house, and a lot has, I figured I would get everyone up to speed.

Since we got back from our vacation to Wyoming, things have been busy. Our trip was very nice and relaxing but as many vacations go it was just too short. Perri enjoyed the cabin and did really well traveling the 20 hour trip one way. In August, we celebrated our nephew’s Ayden’s 3rd birthday, Gavin’s 2nd birthday and our niece Sophia’s 1st, as well as mine. Our good friends Chris and Melodie Look welcomed their first baby, Cole, on the 18th as well. We traveled back to Stockton for the Rook County Fair and enjoyed the sights, sound and the food of the fair. It was great to see people and it was an opportunity of those who had not had the chance to see Perri do so. It has been 10 years since I graduated high school and we had plans to meet, but that did not happen. I was able to see a few of my classmates though, and it is hard to believe it has been that long.

Probably the most important and dramatic change that happened is that Betsy accepted a new position within the Medical Intensive Care Unit at KUMC, as the Unit Educator. This is more of an administrator job and is more regular hours with no nights, weekends, or holidays. This means more time for family and friends during those time, but full time day care for Perri. We are proud of Betsy and what she has accomplished and it is a step in the right direction that she wants to go in her nursing career. I think it is very much deserved. Perri wrapped up her first week of full time daycare and did well, probably more so than Betsy and I.

We did have Perri’s 6 month doctor’s appointment on Wednesday and she checked out well. The doctor thought she looked great and will be starting foods. She weighed in at 19.8 lbs (95th Percentile) and 27 ½ inches (95th Percentile), as the doctor said “she is proportional.” And of course 6th months means more shots. She showed us how well here lungs are and she did not like that one bit, but she survived and is doing well. She is on the verge of crawling; she wants to but has not quite figured out to work her legs and arms in conjunction with one another, only a matter of time.

Other than that we have been enjoying the weather and friends. We took in a T-Bones baseball game with some friends, which was a great time. We also took advantage of the nice weather last weekend with two days on the boat, perfect conditions. We are headed to South Dakota for Labor Day to do some camping and hanging out with Shelly and the family. Oh yea, Betsy and I are doing a triathlon with Spencer as team so that should be interesting, while Shelly is doing it by herself. We will get pictures up soon for that, if we survive. We have added a slide show of some pictures from the past month on the right so enjoy. That should get us up to speed on what has been going on in our lives. We hope that everyone enjoyed their summer.
